Pittsburgh is a city defined by its rivers, and nowhere is this more visible than in the trio of striking yellow suspension bridges that span the Allegheny River between Downtown and the North Shore. Known collectively as the “Three Sisters,” these parallel bridges are not just functional crossings—they are symbols of the city’s history, culture, and character. Each bears the name of a Pittsburgh icon, connecting the city not only physically but also to its proud heritage.

Together, the Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol, and Rachel Carson Bridges are the only trio of identical side-by-side bridges in the United States. Their bright paint, graceful lines, and cultural namesakes make them more than infrastructure—they’re landmarks that embody Pittsburgh’s love of sports, art, and nature. Whether you walk across them on a sunny afternoon, photograph them against the skyline, or simply admire them from afar, the Three Sisters remain a timeless part of Pittsburgh’s story. Photographed last month with the 2025 NxNW Crew.
