So, this is literally my first exposure with a new film camera, the Chroma 617. This was taken in Alliance, Ohio on a morning last week before work, about 6:20 am. The sky was crap, but I wanted to run a roll of Kodak Gold 200 through this Camera and see what it does. This first photo was set up without a viewfinder; the camera does not have one. I used my phone and a 3-minute 40-second exposure in the early morning hours, unsure whether these first exposures were correct. Speaking of first exposures, I only have 4 per roll of 120 film; this is a medium format film camera that gobbles up exposures. Four 6 X 17 negatives per roll of 120 film. Not knowing if I got the exposures right is always a dilemma with film; no chimping with film.
The rewarding part is developing the C41 film negatives yourself, seeing the results, scanning the negatives, and sharing the results. This was an old, closed-down diner near my house; places like this have character and deserve to be photographed. The Chroma will be a fun camera to use; more film coming!
Meet the Chroma 617-
