Lamar Valley is a broad, open valley that stretches approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) long and about 3 miles (5 kilometers) wide. It is framed by the rugged peaks of the Absaroka Range to the south and the Lamar River to the north. The valley is characterized by it’s expansive grasslands and rolling hills, interspersed with forest patches. The area is bisected by the Lamar River, which flows through the valley, adding to its scenic charm.
Lamar Valley is famously home to large herds of American bison. It’s one of the best places in Yellowstone to see these iconic animals in their natural habitat. It was a rainy gloomy day in the valley so B&W treatment was the call for this Bison.
