As the Day Fades

As the Day Fades and the sun’s last rays shine on the horizon with the Covehead Harbor Light silhouetted by the last light of the sunset on Prince Edward Island. It was pretty much dark at this point of the evening, we were packing up at our vehicles when the sun popped out from behind some clouds for the very last time, just for a few seconds. I threw on my  16-35 hoping to get a nice flare and by luck, everything worked out for the look I was going for when I captured this. The last image of our first day on Prince Edward Island.

Thanks for stopping!

Covehead Harbor Light

We were treated with a real surprise after shooting Covehead Light at sunset, once the sun was gone a beautiful Harvest moon made it’s way up the horizon almost directly behind the lighthouse. Quite a way to finish off a day of shooting on Prince Edward Island with the NxNW crew.

The present Covehead Harbour Lighthouse is 26.9 feet in height with a focal plane of 32.8 feet above the surrounding water and serves as a coastal light instead of a range light. The revolving bull’s-eyed Fresnel lens in the lantern room emits a white 0.5-second flash followed by an eclipse of 4.5 seconds and was reportedly relocated from Dalhousie, New Brunswick.
