Hooker Falls

 Hooker Falls DuPont State Forest

In the same general area as High Falls, there is another spot famous for swimmers and bathers, Hooker Falls.  Hooker Falls has been known for years to local residents and was named for Edmund Hooker, who operated a mill below the falls in the late 1800s. At the time, it was named Mill Shoals Falls. The Falls was seen in the movie Last of the Mohicans as the falls the characters go over in canoes.

There were many people swimming and sunbathing when I hiked to the base of the falls,  there was a tree swing on one side of the river and they were even sliding down the base of the waterfall. I waited about 5 minutes for a couple of people to clear out and made the best of the situation using the 10 stop filter. I did have a couple of swimmers go by in the middle of the exposures but it did not seem to make a difference in the end.

Thanks for stopping by.
