Fancy Gap Fossils

On one of our trips South this summer we took a detour on the way home through Mount Airy North Carolina, Andy Griffith’s home town, also known to most as Mayberry. The stretch of road out of Mayberry heading North from there and the Blue Ridge Parkway (highway 52 of the Fancy Gap Highway) is normally a flea market, roadside sale, antique heaven. It is a fun little detour and you never know what you may find. Unfortunately, it was a drizzly rainy day and there were not many people open or setup like there normally are with nicer weather but we did find delicious tasting Fresh Peaches and a few things for the Empress.

I found this lineup along the highway by one of the roadside stops and they were begging to be shot, hard to pass up a lineup like this even in the rain.

Thanks for stopping!
