Colorado Rocks! Colorado National Monument, Grand Junction Colorado
One of the stops on nXnw 2013 was on the way back to Denver, in Grand Junction Colorado. There were four of us who ended up staying in Grand Junction that night, myself, Dave Wilson, Bob Lussier and Justin Balog. We made the most of the afternoon and shot around Grand Junction a bit, we had a great day of shooting and ended up at the Colorado National Monument for sunset.
The Colorado National Monument is a series of spectacular canyons that overlook Grand Junction and provide some breathtaking views along Rimrock drive. The afternoon looked like it was shaping up to be a rather mundane sunset, but before long these great cloud formations started rolling in, even a couple distant storm fronts rolled through the far side of Grand Junction that we could see for miles away. The evening turned out to be quite magical with awesome light and color, it was well worth the extra stop and it was hard to leave the Monument that night, and I think it was pretty late and dark when we finally headed into town to the local brewpub for some pizza and refreshments.
I have been going back through some archives lately, wanting to reminisce on my epic first nXnw trip and I definitely thought these shots deserve some blog love, I think they show what a great evening it was on the Monument and why Colorado Rocks. Congrats to Peyton Manning and the Broncos on the Super Bowl victory.
Thanks for stopping!
