Goodyear Blimp Wingfoot One
I was out at lunch Tuesday and was lucky to see the Goodyear Blimp practicing takeoff and landing maneuvers at the Suffield Air Dock. I had to swing by and grab some shots on my way back to work. All I had with me was my phone , so I had to make do with iPhone shots, which are pretty good these days.
The Goodyear Blimp Wingfoot One is one of the most iconic airships in the world, renowned for its association with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. This particular blimp is a part of Goodyear’s fleet of airships, often used for aerial advertising, sports coverage, and public relations events. Wingfoot One is one of the larger airships in Goodyear’s fleet, measuring 246 feet (75 meters) in length. Its height is around 59 feet , and it has a diameter of 50 feet at its widest point. It is named after the Wingfoot Lake in Akron, Ohio, which is located near Goodyear’s headquarters.
