Saddle Bronc Riding

Saddle Bronc Riding or Saddleback Bronco riding was one of the first events at the Wimberley July 4th Rodeo in Texas. Saddle bronc riding is a classic event, both a complement and contrast to the wilder spectacles of bareback riding and bull riding. This event requires strength to be sure, but the event also demands style, grace and precise timing. Dave Wilson and I shuffled around the rodeo arena getting the best vantage point for each event. Since this was the first event we still had some decent light to shoot with as the sun was just going down. Dave recently posted a similar shot of this same rider from the Rodeo, noting the determination in his face.

Bullock Museum

While shooting the Capitol Building in downtown Austin Dave Wilson and I made our way a few blocks down Congress Ave. to have a look at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The Giant Texas Star in front of the museum is frequently photographed so I had to point my camera at it as well since I was in town.

For a different look, I took out my new 11-24 for a cool perspective on the star and museum, getting pretty close to the star in the process. I am sure the museum would be a great visit but unfortunately, it was closed at the time and Dave and I were ready for a cold one.

Thanks for stopping!
