These are some snaps from my Empress’s Garden. She has a lot of time and effort put into her passion for gardening. Starting seeds in the basement under grow lights way before spring. Pretty soon, she will be selling flowers along with her other organic products and honey in the flower porch. These images also represent a first for me in a long time, shooting film, specifically medium format film, on an old Mamiya 645 camera I recently purchased.

I am excited about these images because they are the first roll of film I processed and scanned at home, old school processing and digital scanning with my Canon R5. It was a learning experience for sure, one roll of film went down for the cause and was ruined and chalked up as a learning experience (Take your Apple watch off in the dark bag, especially if you have chatty friends), but I think I have everything under control now.

My Next challenge is C41 color processing at home, which will be soon. Film gives that great old school look that you cannot mimic with these new digital cameras, and I am really enjoying analog.

23 Jun 2026Great images. I’m glad you are enjoying your film journey. I’m loving mine, but I don’t think I’m brave enough to do my own processing!
