TWiz in the HOUSE

Another shot from the Texas Capitol building, specifically the chambers of the Texas House of Representatives. Dave Wilson and I rode out a wicked thunderstorm while shooting a few hours Sunday morning in the State Capitol building.

Whispering Gallery

Another shot from inside the beautiful Texas State Capitol building in downtown Austin Texas. This was shot with my fisheye from the third floor of the Capitol giving an idea of how vast, and photogenic this place really is. The building has nearly four hundred rooms and more than nine hundred windows.

The dome or central rotunda contains an actual gallery and features portraits of every person who has served as president of the Republic of Texas or governor of the State of Texas; the rotunda is also a whispering gallery. The Portraits spiral up all the way to the fourth floor where you’ll find the first presidents of the Republic. Start from the top or the bottom, by walking the floors around the rotunda you’ll take a virtual trip through the history of Texas leadership. When a new Governor is elected their portrait will go on the wall on the first floor of the rotunda and all the remaining portraits rotate one space towards the top of the rotunda. You can see empty spaces on the top floor of the rotunda in the photograph.

A whispering Gallery is a circular, hemispherical, elliptical or ellipsoidal enclosure, often beneath a dome or a vault, in which whispers can be heard clearly in other parts of the gallery.
