Calming Fog

We stopped at Portland Head Lighthouse on our way to Acadia National Park during our NxNW trip in 2014. While we there some unkind weather moved into the area putting the damper on shooting for a while. Going back through some files of the area I pulled this one out, kind of liked the foggy atmosphere and the moody look gave with the long exposure. I did not think any of these were usable as there was quite a bit of mist on the lens (some of which you can see in the photo) but regardless I thought it was an interesting view of the lighthouse and Portland Harbor. Hearing the foghorn was really cool as well.

Thanks for stopping

Nubble Light

Nubble Light Cape Neddick, York Maine

This years trip to Nubble Light was quite different than last year, almost night and day different. When we visited in 2014 with the nXnw crew the waves were pounding the rocks, it was a bit rainy and misty, and really just a gray gloomy day. Most of the shots taken were either converted to black and white or were long exposures because of the conditions.

This year when my wife and I visited it was a different story, the water was very calm and the conditions were beautiful. Rarely have I seen the water so calm on the coast, the skies were blue as well so I finally was able to get some shots of the Lighthouse in some good weather conditions.

I wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, Thanks for stopping!
