Calming Fog

We stopped at Portland Head Lighthouse on our way to Acadia National Park during our NxNW trip in 2014. While we there some unkind weather moved into the area putting the damper on shooting for a while. Going back through some files of the area I pulled this one out, kind of liked the foggy atmosphere and the moody look gave with the long exposure. I did not think any of these were usable as there was quite a bit of mist on the lens (some of which you can see in the photo) but regardless I thought it was an interesting view of the lighthouse and Portland Harbor. Hearing the foghorn was really cool as well.

Thanks for stopping

Nubble Light

Nubble Light –  Cape Neddick, York Maine

I thought I would post this close up of the Nubble Lighthouse in York Maine. This was a rainy gray morning back on our NxNW trip a couple years ago, a very dreary morning to shoot on our way up the coast to Acadia. Most everyone opted for long exposure shots since the sea was really kicking up that day. I snapped this one of the lighthouse and decided it would be a nice black and white shot. There was really no definition in the clouds at all to speak of that day so I just brought up the exposure in the sky to give this a more contrasty feel and make the Lighthouse and keepers house stand out.

Something different from that wet morning in Maine.

Thanks for stopping! Have a great weekend!
