Nestled along the Glen Leigh section of the Falls Trail, Onondaga Falls is one of the hidden gems of Ricketts Glen State Park. Though it stands a modest 15 feet tall, its graceful cascade tumbles over layered rock into a peaceful pool, creating a scene that feels both serene and timeless. Surrounded by towering hemlocks, moss-covered boulders, and the soothing sound of Kitchen Creek, this waterfall offers hikers a quiet moment to pause and appreciate the natural beauty of Pennsylvania’s renowned Glens Natural Area. Named after the Onondaga Nation, one of the original members of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, the falls blend history and nature into an unforgettable stop on one of the state’s most spectacular waterfall hikes.
Ricketts Glen was an awesome experience. Although we did not see every waterfall in the Park- there are 21 of them, ranging from 11 to 94 feet- we did our share, with some serious hiking involved in very hot temperatures and very bad air quality due to the Canadian fires.
Thanks for stopping!
