On June 3, 1925, Goodyear launched its first branded blimp, “Pilgrim,” marking the start of its iconic airship legacy. To commemorate the anniversary, three modern Goodyear airships — Wingfoot One, Two, and Three — flew together over Akron and Mogadore, Ohio (near the original hangar site), over three days from June 3rd to June 5th. Wingfoot One was restored with a retro black-and-silver wrap resembling the 1925 Pilgrim, paying tribute to Goodyear’s heritage. I am lucky enough to live pretty close by, and work near the Wingfoot Lake Hangar that houses Wingfoot One. I did not catch all three of these in the air, they flew over the Akron area most of the time, but I did get to photograph them when they landed and were moored for the evening due to high winds.
